When travelling to Florida to stay in one of our Disney villa rentals most families come with young children and after a few days wondering around the Disney theme parks you start looking for alternate activities, here we list some to help you enjoy your Florida vacation.

Kissimmee petting zoo - Green Meadows

Green Meadows is a family run petting zoo and is just one of a few farms located throughout the USA that are run by the extended family. The farm is an ideal day out and having been to this farm in 2005 when my children were 3 & 5 it is definitely worth a recommendation. This farm provides hands on learning with guided tours to help educate both children and adults alike.

You get to learn about Pigs, Cows, Goats, Sheep, Chickens, Ducks, Turkeys, Geese and Donkeys. Activities include milking a cow, pony rides for the children, tractor hay rides and a train ride.

There are picnic areas for those that bring a packed lunch.

Opening hours are 9:30 - 16:00

Dinosaur World - Plant City Florida

Dinosaur world has three locations thruout the USA, one of which is located just off the I4 between Orlando and Tampa in Plant City. The park has 20 acres of natural gardens with over 200 lifesize dinosaurs intermingled. The park is open every day from 09:00 to 17:00.

You enter the park via the gift shop. There are numerous shows and exhibits to view, these include the largest interactive boneyard in the area, a pre-historic museum and a giant skeletal playground. Dogs are permitted on a leash.

You must remember to bring a picnic as no restaurant services are available at the park.
